Projects

Gardeners volunteer their time and talents to make our community shine. Our members bring a wide range of gifts to the community. The members plant trees, vegetables, host events, design beautiful floral creations, bring a smile to a child or elder’s face and share nature education programs. All of the different talents our members bring to the Plano Garden Club may not all be strictly gardening, but together we are building a garden community. More importantly, we are building a community of friendships.

We want to welcome our new members and hope you will find the perfect project where you can thrive and make lasting friendships within this wonderful club.

The facility was recently renovated and a courtyard was added.  The architect planted Muhly and Mondo grass in a 330 ft. space that died and was outstripped by nut sedge, bindweed, and Bermuda grass.  The City was getting ready to cover it with rocks when a couple of Plano Garden Club members saw it as a perfect place for a public garden.  We met with City officials and they agreed to a partnership between Plano Garden Club and the City of Plano to beautify this space.

Besides the larger space, there are culinary herb planters, to be used by the kitchen staff that the Club will maintain.

Plans include digging out all the weeds, amending the soil, and planting annual and perennial flowers, along with herbs in the planters.  Many of the flowering plants will be prized possessions of club members.  The goal will be to become the focal point of the center with a beautiful flower garden for our senior population.

Plano Garden club volunteers will be recognized by the City of Plano for their time commitment.
